भीमसेन-दुर्योधन-समागमः
Bhīmasena–Duryodhana Engagement at Sunset
भरतनन्दन! तदनन्तर एक तीखे और पानीदार भल्ल्लसे उन्होंने भीमसेनके धनुषके दो टुकड़े कर दिये ।। (अपास्य तु धनुश्छिन्नं भीमसेनो महाबल: । शरैबहुभिरानर्च्छद् भीष्मं शान्तनवं युधि ।) महाबली भीमसेनने उस कटे हुए धनुषको फेंककर दूसरा धनुष ले बहुत-से बाणोंद्वारा युद्धस्थलमें शान्तनुनन्दन भीष्मको अत्यन्त पीड़ा दी। सात्यकिस्तु ततस्तूर्ण भीष्ममासाद्य संयुगे | आकर्णप्रहितैस्ती#णैर्निशितैस्तिग्मतेजनै:
sañjaya uvāca |
āpāsya tu dhanuś chinnaṃ bhīmaseno mahābalaḥ |
śaraiḥ bahubhir ānarcched bhīṣmaṃ śāntanavaṃ yudhi |
sātyakis tu tatas tūrṇaṃ bhīṣmam āsādya saṃyuge |
ākarṇaprahitaiḥ tīṣṇair niśitaiḥ tigmatejanaiḥ ||
Sañjaya dit : Ô descendant de Bharata ! Ensuite, d’une autre flèche bhalla, acérée et luisante, Bhīṣma coupa en deux l’arc de Bhīmasena. Le puissant Bhīmasena jeta l’arc brisé, en saisit un autre et, au cœur de la mêlée, accabla Bhīṣma, fils de Śāntanu, d’une multitude de flèches, lui infligeant une douleur extrême. Puis Sātyaki s’élança promptement vers Bhīṣma sur le champ de bataille et le frappa de flèches tranchantes, tirées jusqu’à l’oreille, étincelantes d’une âpre vigueur.
