यच्चादाय तदाज्ञप्तं भीत॑ं दत्तं सुदारुणम् । यजेदू् राजा न तं॑ यज्ञ प्रशंसन्त्यस्य साधव:
yac cādāya tadājñaptaṁ bhītaṁ dattaṁ sudāruṇam | yajed rājā na taṁ yajñaṁ praśaṁsanty asya sādhavaḥ ||
Bhīṣma dit : Si un roi, après avoir saisi des richesses, ordonne qu’on les lui remette — richesses arrachées par la peur et une coercition d’une dureté extrême — puis accomplit un yajña avec un tel produit, les justes ne louent pas son sacrifice. Un rite célébré au nom du yajña, mais nourri par l’intimidation et le pillage des sujets, est souillé et ne reçoit pas l’assentiment des gens de bien.
