Cyavana’s Yogic Display and Kuśika’s Recognition of Tapas

Educational Q&A

Proper conduct (dharma) is shown through śauca (purity), self-restraint, and respectful humility—approaching the wise with joined hands and disciplined attention before speaking or acting.

A king, after performing the appropriate purification rites, approaches the sage Cyavana with reverence and formally identifies himself, establishing a respectful and rule-bound setting for the ensuing instruction or interaction.
