Anuśāsana-parva 17
तेजसामपि यत् तेजस्तपसामपि यत् तपः । शान्तानामपि य: शान्तो द्युतीनामपि या झ्युति:
tejasām api yat tejas tapasām api yat tapaḥ | śāntānām api yaḥ śānto dyutīnām api yā dyutiḥ ||
Vāyu dit : «Celui qui est la splendeur même parmi les splendides, l’austérité même parmi les ascètes ; celui qui est le plus paisible parmi les paisibles, et la radiance parmi tout ce qui rayonne — il est l’excellence suprême au cœur de toute excellence. De lui naissent les mondes et en lui ils se résorbent ; il est le Soi de tous les êtres. Écoute donc de ma bouche, ô meilleur des hommes : je vais proclamer les mille-huit noms de ce Seigneur Śiva, à l’éclat sans mesure. À les entendre seulement, tu obtiendras l’accomplissement de tous tes désirs.»
