व्यजयच्छत्रुसंघांश्व देवानां स्वेन तेजसा । अत्रिणा दह्ामानांस्तान् दृष्टवा देवा महासुरान्
vyajayac chatrusaṅghāṁś ca devānāṁ svena tejasā | atriṇā dahyamānāṁs tān dṛṣṭvā devā mahāsurān |
Bhīṣma dit : «Par son propre rayonnement spirituel, il triompha des cohortes ennemies des dieux. Voyant ces puissants asuras brûlés par la puissance d’Atri, les dieux—désormais protégés par lui—déployèrent à leur tour leur vaillance et abattirent ces daityas. Ainsi Atri rendit au Soleil son éclat, délivra les dieux du péril et voua les asuras à la ruine.»
