Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ

Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony

नानानियमविख्यातैर्षिभि: सुमहात्मभि: । प्रविशन्नेव चापश्यं जटाचीरधरं प्रभुम्‌

nānā-niyama-vikhyātair ṛṣibhiḥ su-mahātmabhiḥ | praviśann eva cāpaśyaṃ jaṭā-cīra-dharaṃ prabhum ||

Vāsudeva dit : En entrant dans cet excellent āśrama—rendu lumineux par de grands sages, renommés pour leurs nombreuses disciplines—j’aperçus aussitôt le vénérable brahmane Upamanyu, digne d’un seigneur : cheveux en jata et vêtements d’écorce, puissant et resplendissant, flamboyant comme le feu par son tapas, serein de nature, jeune, assis et entouré de ses disciples.
