Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
तत्राश्रमपदे श्रेष्ठे सर्वभूतमनोरमे । सेविते द्विजशार्टूलैवेंदवेदाड़पारगै:
tatrāśramapade śreṣṭhe sarvabhūtamanorame | sevite dvijaśārdūlaiḥ vedavedāṅgapāragaiḥ ||
Là, dans cet āśrama d’excellence—charmant pour tous les êtres—fréquenté par les plus éminents brahmanes, maîtres des Veda et de leurs disciplines auxiliaires, j’entrai et je vis Upamanyu : joyau parmi les brahmanes, portant les cheveux en jata et des vêtements d’écorce, puissant et resplendissant, flamboyant comme le feu par son tapas, serein de nature, dans la vigueur de la jeunesse, assis et entouré de ses disciples.
