Adhyāya 132 — The path to heaven through deed, mind, and speech; karmic results for lifespan
Sustained, disciplined giving (a lamp-offering maintained for a full year) combined with a prescribed observance is presented as dharmically fruitful, yielding household prosperity—specifically, the increase of progeny.
In a didactic section of the Anuśāsana Parva, the sage Aṅgirā states a specific merit-result teaching: performing a year-long lamp donation beneath a karañja tree while holding the root of the herb suvarcalā leads to the growth of one’s lineage.
