अध्याय १३२ — कर्मणा मनसा वाचा: स्वर्गमार्गः तथा आयुर्विपाकः
Adhyāya 132 — The path to heaven through deed, mind, and speech; karmic results for lifespan
देवता: पितरश्वैव उत्सवे पर्वणीषु वा । निराशा: प्रतिगच्छन्ति कश्मलोपहताद गृहात्
devatāḥ pitaraś caiva utsave parvaṇīṣu vā | nirāśāḥ pratigacchanti kaśmalopahatād gṛhāt ||
Bhishma dit que, lorsqu’un foyer est frappé par la souillure morale et le désordre, les dieux et les ancêtres n’acceptent pas son culte. Même aux jours de fête et d’observance sacrée, ils s’en retournent déçus de cette demeure entachée de péché, car la révérence issue d’une vie domestique corrompue ne porte aucun fruit.
