पुत्रा: प्रदेया ज्ञानेषु कुलधर्मेषु भारत । भारत! उसके गर्भसे संतान उत्पन्न करके वंश-परम्पराको प्रतिष्ठित करे और ज्ञान तथा कुलधर्मकी शिक्षा पानेके लिये पुत्रोंको गुरुके आश्रममें भेज दे ।।
putrāḥ pradeyā jñāneṣu kuladharmeṣu bhārata | kanyā cotpādya dātavyā kulaputrāya dhīmate ||
Bhīṣma dit : «Ô Bhārata, les fils doivent être confiés à un maître afin d’être instruits dans le savoir sacré et les devoirs de la lignée. Et lorsqu’une fille naît, qu’on la donne en mariage à un jeune homme digne et sage, issu d’une bonne famille.»
