भीष्मस्य चास्य वचनान्नियोगाच्च ममानघ । अनुक्रोशाच्च भूतानां सर्वेषां रक्षणाय च

Transliteration

bhīṣmasya cāsya vacanān niyogāc ca mamānagha | anukrośāc ca bhūtānāṃ sarveṣāṃ rakṣaṇāya ca ||

Translation

Vaiśampāyana dit : «Ô toi sans faute, cela fut entrepris par obéissance aux paroles de Bhīṣma et à la mission que je confiai, mais aussi par compassion envers tous les êtres vivants et pour la protection de tous.»
