mahākāyo mahātejā mahādeva ivāparaḥ śivārcanarataḥ śrīmān sa me pāpaṃ vyapohatu
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya, within a praise-prayer context)
It frames Śiva-arcana (including Liṅga-pūjā) as a direct purifier: devotion to worship is invoked as the means by which pāpa (bondage-producing demerit) is driven away.
By calling the devotee “like another Mahādeva,” it reflects the Shaiva Siddhānta idea that proximity to Pati (Śiva) through worship transforms the pashu’s condition—radiance and auspiciousness arise by Śiva’s grace, though Śiva remains the supreme Lord.
Śiva-arcana—regular worship (pūjā) of Śiva/Liṅga with focused devotion—is highlighted as the practical discipline that leads to purification and removal of pāpa.
