देवदारुवनौकसां प्रति ब्रह्मोपदेशः—लिङ्गलक्षण-प्रतिष्ठा-विधिः, शिवमायारूपदर्शनं, स्तुतिः
पितामह उवाच एष देवो महादेवो विज्ञेयस्तु महेश्वरः न तस्मात्परमं किंचित् पदं समधिगम्यते
pitāmaha uvāca eṣa devo mahādevo vijñeyastu maheśvaraḥ na tasmātparamaṃ kiṃcit padaṃ samadhigamyate
Pitāmaha (Brahmā) dit : « C’est Lui seul qu’il faut reconnaître comme Dieu—Mahādeva, Maheśvara, le Grand Seigneur. Au-delà de Lui, nul état, nul but, nulle demeure plus haute ne peut être atteinte. »

It establishes Mahādeva as the supreme Pati, implying that Linga-upāsanā is not merely symbolic devotion but a direct means to realize the highest goal (parama-padam) through Śiva as the ultimate refuge.
Śiva is affirmed as Maheśvara—beyond whom no higher reality is attainable—indicating His status as the unsurpassed Lord, the final ground of liberation for the paśu (bound soul) beyond all limited states.
The verse primarily highlights jñāna-oriented upāsanā—“vijñeyaḥ” (to be realized)—supporting Pāśupata-aligned practice where worship and yoga culminate in direct recognition of Śiva as the supreme goal.
