Kurma Purana — Purva Bhaga, Shloka 81

Dakṣa’s Progeny, Nṛsiṃha–Varāha Avatāras, and Andhaka’s Defeat

Hari–Hara–Śakti Synthesis

FAQs

Indirectly: it shows how māyā (delusion) veils right discernment, causing adharma; the Atman is understood through clarity and dharmic conduct rather than through deception.

No explicit technique is taught here; the verse supports the yogic foundation of yama/niyama-like ethics—humility, reverence to tapasvins, and disciplined conduct that purifies the mind for higher Yoga taught elsewhere in the Kurma Purana.

Not directly; it reflects the Purana’s shared dharmic ground across Shaiva-Vaishnava synthesis: honoring ascetics and the gods is a common religious duty, and disrespect born of māyā is condemned regardless of sectarian identity.
