Diti’s Puṁsavana Vow, Indra’s Intervention, and the Birth of the Maruts

When a woman wants to endear herself to her husband and make him very faithful, she must try to please him in all respects. When the husband is pleased with his wife, the wife can receive all necessities, ornaments and full satisfaction for her senses. Herein this is indicated by the behavior of Diti.
This verse highlights attentive service, affection, humility, and self-control as powerful virtues that make one’s conduct pleasing and dharmic within household life.
Diti sought to obtain Kaśyapa’s favor and blessings; therefore she carefully served him with respect and restraint as part of her vow and intention.
By practicing respectful speech, consistent helpful service, and emotional restraint—especially in close relationships—one builds trust, harmony, and spiritual character.
