Dadhīci’s Supreme Charity and the Opening of Indra’s War with Vṛtrāsura
तथाभियाचितो देवैर्ऋषिराथर्वणो महान् । मोदमान उवाचेदं प्रहसन्निव भारत ॥ २ ॥
tathābhiyācito devair ṛṣir ātharvaṇo mahān modamāna uvācedaṁ prahasann iva bhārata
Ô Bharata (Parīkṣit), selon l’ordre du Seigneur, les demi-dieux s’approchèrent du grand sage Dadhīci, fils d’Atharvā. Très généreux, lorsqu’ils le supplièrent de leur donner son corps, il acquiesça aussitôt en partie. Mais, désireux d’entendre d’eux des instructions de dharma, il sourit et, comme en plaisantant, parla ainsi.
