Aditi’s Lament and Kaśyapa’s Instruction of the Payo-vrata (Milk Vow) to Please Keśava
पूजां च महतीं कुर्याद् वित्तशाठ्यविवर्जित: । चरुं निरूप्य पयसि शिपिविष्टाय विष्णवे ॥ ५१ ॥ सूक्तेन तेन पुरुषं यजेत सुसमाहित: । नैवेद्यं चातिगुणवद् दद्यात्पुरुषतुष्टिदम् ॥ ५२ ॥
pūjāṁ ca mahatīṁ kuryād vitta-śāṭhya-vivarjitaḥ caruṁ nirūpya payasi śipiviṣṭāya viṣṇave
Renonçant à l’avarice qui refuse de dépenser, on doit organiser une grande adoration du Seigneur Viṣṇu, le Śipiviṣṭa demeurant dans le cœur de tous. Avec une attention recueillie, qu’on prépare le caru—des grains cuits dans le ghee et le lait—et qu’on accomplisse le rite en récitant le Puruṣa-sūkta; qu’on offre aussi un naivedya aux saveurs variées, qui réjouit le Puruṣa suprême.
This verse teaches that worship should be performed generously and sincerely, free from any cheating or miserliness regarding one’s wealth, and that offerings should be properly prepared and offered to Lord Viṣṇu.
