apūpavā́n annavā́ṃś carúr eha sī́datu | lokakṛ́taḥ pathikṛ́to yajāmahe yé devā́nāṃ hutabhā́gā ihá sthá
Let the cooked oblation, rich in cake and rich in food, be set down here. We do sacrifice unto the World-builders, the Path-makers, who have their portion in the gods’ oblation: be ye here present.
Rishi: Traditionally associated with Atharvanic seers in the AV 18 funerary corpus (often treated as Atharvan/Angiras lineage in ancillary tradition).
Devata: Lokakṛt and Pathikṛt (collective ordainers; often interpreted in a pitṛ/divine-ordainer register).
Chandas: Mixed; predominantly Anuṣṭubh-like cadence in this refrain-formula (edition-dependent scansion).
{"primary_rasa":"shanta","secondary_rasa":"karuna","emotional_arc":"From careful placement to calm invocation of ordering powers.","listener_experience":"A steadying, procedural calm—grief held within ritual competence.","intensity":4}
