FAQs

It gives a dhyāna-lakṣaṇa (meditative iconographic specification): the deity is visualized with seven flames, rosary and kamaṇḍalu, flame-garland aura, red complexion, spear in hand, and a goat-seat—details used for mantra-japa, nyāsa, and pūjā visualization.

Beyond narrative, it preserves practical liturgical technology—standardized deity-forms for worship—showing the Purana’s coverage of ritual science (pūjā-vidhi), meditation procedure (dhyāna), and iconographic taxonomy (mūrti-lakṣaṇa).

Correct dhyāna is treated as a purifier and efficacy-condition for worship: visualizing the deity in the prescribed form stabilizes concentration, aligns the rite with śāstric injunction, and supports the intended merit (puṇya) of japa and pūjā.
