Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Tantra","secondary_vidya":"Mantra","practical_application":"Śaiva ritual manual guidance: acceptable mantra-variants by recension and flexibility regarding adhivāsana duration; even without adhivāsana, properly done worship can be result-giving.","sutra_style":false}
Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Commentary","entry_title":"Recensional Mantra Variants and Efficacy With/Without Adhivāsana","lookup_keywords":["adhivāsana","recension variants","samarpitam","rudrāya namas","hrūṃ"],"quick_summary":"Different textual readings prescribe different offering-phrases/mantras; the rite may be preceded by one-night or same-day adhivāsana, yet even without it the yajña can still bear fruit."}
Concept: Ritual efficacy depends on sincere and competent performance; preparatory consecration (adhivāsana) is beneficial but not always mandatory.
Application: When constrained by time/resources, perform the core worship correctly; use authorized mantra-variants consistent with one’s lineage/pāṭha.
Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi (Rudra/Shiva worship and mantra-offerings)

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Related Themes: Agni Purana 96.124 (definition of adhivāsa); Agni Purana 96.123 (daily oblations and vessel worship)
It gives procedural mantra-options and textual variants for offering and worship in Rudra/Śiva-pūjā, and clarifies the role of adhivāsana (consecratory ‘overnight’ rite) versus immediate or omitted adhivāsana.
It preserves multiple recensional readings and practical liturgical alternatives—mantra-padas, bīja usage (hrūṃ), and timing rules—showing the Agni Purana’s function as a compendium of ritual technology alongside doctrine.
It emphasizes accessibility of worship: even if adhivāsana is shortened or omitted, the yāga remains phala-prada (fruit-bearing), encouraging sincere performance within one’s capacity.
