Related Themes: Agni Purana 90 (dīkṣā and pūjā dravya lists; agneya-vidyā context)
It gives a procedural rule for śiṣya-praveśa/dīkṣā-style ritual handling: seat the disciple east-facing and perform pūjā using specific purificatory/auspicious substances—kāñjika, cooked rice, clay, ash, dūrvā grass, and cow-dung balls.
Beyond mythology, it preserves precise ritual protocol and material culture (what items are used, how the participant is oriented, and how the rite is ‘completed’), illustrating the text’s manual-like coverage of pūjā-vidhi alongside its many other disciplines.
East-facing orientation and the use of bhasma, dūrvā, earth, and gomaya emphasize śuddhi (purification) and maṅgala (auspiciousness), aiming to remove ritual impurity and establish the disciple in a sanctified state for subsequent rites.
