Adhyāya 88 —
Teaching of the Nirvāṇa-Initiation
Lord Agni (in discourse to sage Vasiṣṭha)

Related Themes: Agni Purana 88 (Yoga/Mokṣa instructions around dhyāna and śiva-tattva)
It teaches a dhyāna-yoga method: dissolve the mind into Śiva (mano-laya) and then establish the disciple in ātma-vicāra/ātma-bhāvanā—clear recognition of the Self in that non-conceptual state (bhāvaśūnya).
Alongside ritual, polity, and other sciences, the Agni Purāṇa also preserves precise yogic soteriology—practical instructions for mental dissolution and Self-realization—showing its coverage of inner disciplines (yoga, mokṣa-śāstra) as part of its encyclopedic scope.
By transcending mental constructions and resting awareness in Śiva beyond mind, the practitioner purifies cognition and weakens karmic bondage rooted in vṛttis (mental modifications), culminating in Self-recognition as the stable ground of liberation.
