Agni Purana — Vastu-Pratishtha & Isana-kalpa, Shloka 29

Chapter 83 — निर्वाणदीक्षाकथनम्

Description of the Nirvāṇa Initiation

Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Tantra","secondary_vidya":"Mantra","practical_application":"Protective/abhicāra-adjacent rite: embed a hetu-formula inside the Brahmāṇḍa-mantra, then in nivṛtti-krama visualize yellow (pīta) enclosure of four Śambara forces and apply tāḍana (forceful activation) to remove obstruction or neutralize hostile influences.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Nivṛtti-krama: Hetu within Brahmāṇḍa-mantra and pīta-Śambara-catuṣṭaya-tāḍana","lookup_keywords":["nivṛtti","Brahmāṇḍa-mantra","hetu","Śambara-catuṣṭaya","pīta"],"quick_summary":"The rite prescribes mantra-embedding (hetu into Brahmāṇḍa) and a color-coded nivṛtti visualization (yellow) enclosing four Śambara factors, followed by forceful application (tāḍana) for withdrawal/neutralization."}

Concept: Mantric operations can be layered (mantra-garbha/antarbāva) and directed through krama (nivṛtti) and varṇa (color) to effect withdrawal, sealing, and neutralization.

Application: In protective rites, keep strict containment logic: embed sub-formulas within a primary mantra, visualize enclosure (yellow seal), and apply the act (tāḍana) only after containment is complete.

FAQs

It teaches a specific mantra-application method: embedding a Hetu component into the Brahmāṇḍa-mantra, enclosing a fourfold Śambara set, using yellow-color visualization, and then forcefully ‘applying/striking’ the mantra as part of a Nivṛtti (withdrawal/counteraction) rite.

Beyond myth and theology, it preserves operational ritual technology—mantra-composition (embedding/antarbhāva), classified ritual modes (Nivṛtti), and color-based visualizations—showing the Agni Purana’s coverage of applied mantra-tantra alongside other sciences.

The instruction frames mantra as disciplined, rule-bound action: Nivṛtti implies withdrawal/removal of harmful influences, while the controlled visualization and structured mantra-insertion aim at purification, protection, and karmic neutralization of obstacles when performed within prescribed restraints.
