Lord Agni (narrating Agni Purana’s ritual procedure, traditionally to Vasiṣṭha)

Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Tantra","secondary_vidya":"Mantra","practical_application":"Use the identity-formula ‘Śivo’ham’ as a ritual exit-seal (saṃhāra/closure) when leaving the yāga-maṇḍapa, ensuring the mandala’s protective boundary (weapon-marked circle) and prior placements remain ritually intact.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Ritual Exit from Yaga-mandapa with Śivo’ham-bhava and Weapon-Mandala","lookup_keywords":["Shivo'ham","yaga-mandapa","shastra-mandala","nyasa","ritual-closure"],"quick_summary":"Depart the sacrificial pavilion while holding the Śiva-identity thought, after prior placements/nyāsa and with a weapon-marked protective circle. This functions as a closure and protection protocol for the rite."}

Weapon Type: Shastra (weapons used ritually to mark/protect the mandala)

Concept: Ahaṃkāra is redirected into mantra-ahaṃ (‘Śivo’ham’) as a disciplined identity-formation that seals action in non-dual orientation.

Application: In transitions (entering/exiting sacred work), hold a single stabilizing identity-mantra to prevent dissipation of attention and to ‘close’ the rite inwardly.

Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi (Yajna-vidhi / Tantric-Ritual Procedure)

Primary Rasa: vira

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Type: Ritual-space

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A practitioner exits a yajña pavilion while inwardly affirming ‘I am Śiva’; on the ground a circular mandala is etched/marked with weapons, with prior placements arranged toward the front.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, yāga-maṇḍapa with lamp-lit interior, bold circular shastra-marked mandala on the floor, sādhaka stepping out with composed face, weapons stylized as ritual emblems around the circle, rich reds and ochres","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting, pavilion with ornate pillars, gold-highlighted mandala ring, ritual weapons placed symmetrically, central figure mid-step with serene Śiva-bhava, embossed gold accents","mysore_prompt":"Mysore painting, clear instructional layout: pavilion boundary, forward arrangement (nyasta-purva-agra), weapon-marked circle, practitioner’s exit path indicated, fine lines and calm palette","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, architectural pavilion with patterned floor, circular diagram with weapons, figure exiting with dignified posture, delicate detailing and spatial depth"}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"instructional","suggested_raga":"Bhairavi","pace":"medium","voice_tone":"instructional"}

FAQs

It gives a precise instruction for exiting the yāga-maṇḍapa while maintaining the mantra-identification “śivo’ham,” and doing so within a pre-arranged ritual framework involving a weapon-marked protective maṇḍala.

Beyond theology, it preserves practical ritual engineering: how to move, exit, and maintain protection through maṇḍala-formation, mantra-bhāva (identity with a deity), and prescribed spatial arrangements—typical of the Agni Purana’s manual-like breadth.

The “śivo’ham” identity-bhāva purifies fear and ego by aligning the practitioner with Śiva-consciousness, while the protective maṇḍala and orderly exit safeguard the rite’s merit (puṇya) from disruption and inauspicious influences.
