It prescribes a specific Vaiṣṇava-oriented rite: either ghṛta-abhyāṅga (ghee massage/anointing) performed properly “from the root,” or ghṛta-dhārā-abhiṣeka (continuous ghee-stream anointing) maintained through the entire night.
Beyond theology, it records practical, procedural ritual details—materials (ghee), modes (abhyāṅga vs. dhārā-abhiṣeka), timing (all night), and community context (with Vaiṣṇavas)—showing the text’s manual-like coverage of worship techniques.
Performing sustained ghee-anointing/abhisheka in a Vaiṣṇava setting functions as a purificatory and devotional act, emphasizing disciplined night-long worship and merit gained through correct observance and association with devotees.
