FAQs

It gives a formal invitatory/settling instruction: after worship by qualified ācāryas and ornamentation with gandha (perfumes) and mālya (garlands), the Devi is requested to dwell auspiciously in the house—typical of griha-pratiṣṭhā and devatā-āvāhana contexts.

Beyond mythology, the Agni Purana preserves applied ritual protocols—how to honor, invite, and establish a deity’s presence in domestic/ritual space—showing its coverage of practical dharma, household rites, and consecration procedures.

Proper worship and respectful invitation are presented as creating śubha (auspiciousness) and bhūti (prosperity), aligning the home with divine presence and thereby supporting welfare, protection, and merit through correct observance.
