Concept: Smaraṇa (remembrance) must accompany karma (ritual action); outer circumambulation mirrors inner orientation around Nārāyaṇa as the spiritual center.

Application: During processions, maintain continuous nāma/smaraṇa rather than mere physical movement; use music to sustain collective focus and maṅgala.

FAQs

It prescribes a specific ritual sequence: carry/raise the offering-vessel on the head, maintain continuous remembrance of Nārāyaṇa, and perform clockwise circumambulation (pradakṣiṇā) accompanied by auspicious instrumental music (turya-maṅgala-niḥsvana).

Beyond theology, it records practical liturgical protocol—bodily gesture (vessel-on-head), mental discipline (anusmaraṇa of Nārāyaṇa), spatial ritual action (pradakṣiṇā), and soundscape management (maṅgala-instrumentation)—showing the Purāṇa’s coverage of temple/household worship technology.

The act unites devotion (smaraṇa of Nārāyaṇa) with reverential service (carrying the pātra) and sanctifying movement (pradakṣiṇā), traditionally understood to generate puṇya, remove ritual impurities, and intensify the merit of the offering through auspicious (maṅgala) accompaniment.
