Concept: Ritual efficacy depends on correct form (rūpa) and standardization—flags, staff, temple typology, and deity-form taxonomy are treated as knowable technical sciences.

FAQs

It introduces the technical standards for temple banners (patākā), interprets the flagstaff (daṇḍa) as a personified/human-form principle, and signals a systematic teaching on temple types (prāsāda) and Viṣṇu/Vāsudeva iconographic classifications (mūrti-bheda).

By shifting from narrative religion to applied śāstra: it treats architecture (prāsāda), ritual fixtures (flags/flagstaff), and iconography (mūrti-bheda) as codified knowledge—showing the Agni Purana’s role as a compendium spanning worship, design standards, and symbolic theology.

Correctly understanding and implementing temple standards for Vāsudeva’s shrine and images is presented as dharmic worship in material form—supporting purity of ritual, correctness of consecration, and the accrual of merit through properly established sacred space.
