Pour le principe du tanmātra du son (śabda-tanmātra), qu’on place la syllabe « na » sur la tête. Pour le principe dont la nature est le toucher, qu’on place la syllabe « dha » dans la région du visage (bouche).

Dosha: Vata
Concept: Subtle sensory potentials (tanmātras) underlie perception; by ritually placing them, the practitioner reorients senses from outward grasping to inward sacral awareness.
Application: Use the placements as a prelude to pratyāhāra-like restraint: hear mantra as purified śabda; feel ritual touch as consecrated sparśa.
Khanda Section: Tantra-Mantra-nyasa (Bhuta-tanmatra and Matrika-nyasa)
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A subtle-body diagram: ‘न’ glowing at the crown/head representing sound, and ‘ध’ glowing at the mouth/face representing touch, with faint sensory waves emanating and then turning inward.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, human figure with crown-lotus marked ‘न’ and face region marked ‘ध’, stylized sound-waves and touch-aura, bold outlines, temple-diagram overlay.","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore, gold-highlighted head halo with ‘न’, ornate facial region with ‘ध’, symmetrical devotional composition, lamps and floral motifs, embossed detailing.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore instructional chart: clear placement points—head ‘न’ (śabda), face ‘ध’ (sparśa)—with arrows and Sanskrit labels, soft colors and precise linework.","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, refined anatomical-spiritual illustration: calligraphic ‘न’ at head and ‘ध’ at mouth, delicate shading, scholarly marginalia, subdued palette."}

Related Themes: Agni Purana 59 (continuation of tanmātra/mātṛkā placements beyond 59.19)
It teaches a specific nyāsa procedure: installing the phoneme “na” on the head for the śabda-tanmātra principle, and installing “dha” on the face/mouth region for the sparśa (touch) principle.
Alongside mythology and dharma, the Agni Purana also preserves practical tantric-ritual technologies—here, a technical mapping of subtle-element theory (tanmātras/tattvas) onto embodied mantra practice (nyāsa).
Nyāsa sacralizes the practitioner’s body as a mantra-body, aiming at purification, inner alignment of senses and subtle principles, and increased efficacy (siddhi) of worship and japa through disciplined ritual placement.
