Concept: Perceptual experience is structured by five sense-objects (tanmātras) that condition sensory cognition.
Application: During meditation, label incoming experience as one of the five (sound/touch/form/taste/smell) to reduce proliferation and stabilize attention.

Related Themes: Agni Purana 59 (continuation into indriyas and mahābhūtas)
It teaches the tattva-model of perception: the five sense-objects—sound, touch, form, taste, and smell—arise in creation alongside inner mentation (saṅkalpa) and related mental functions, a core framework used in Sāṅkhya-style cosmology.
By preserving a systematic list of experiential categories (sense-objects and mental operation), it shows the Agni Purana’s coverage beyond ritual—into philosophy, psychology of cognition, and cosmological enumeration used across śāstric disciplines.
Understanding sense-objects as products of creation supports detachment and discrimination (viveka), helping a practitioner reduce sensory bondage and orient the mind toward liberation-oriented discipline.
