Concept: Samanvaya of avatāra (viṣṇu-tattva) and śakti (devī-tattva) through spatial ordering; directions become carriers of specific divine functions (rakṣā, vidyā, śakti).
Application: In pūjā planning, allocate narrative series (avatāras) to a single direction for coherence, and place śakti-devīs in fire/transition quarters (SE/SW/NW) to stabilize the ritual field.
Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi / Mandala-devata-sthapanam (Directional deity placement in ritual diagrams)

Related Themes: Agni Purana 43 (mandala-devatā-sthāpanam sequence)
It gives a precise dik-nyāsa (directional placement) rule for installing specific divine forms in a ritual maṇḍala: the daśāvatāra set to the north, Caṇḍikā to the southeast, Ambikā to the southwest, and Sarasvatī to the northwest.
Beyond myth, the Agni Purana functions as a practical ritual handbook: it codifies spatial liturgy—how to map theology onto directions—linking Purāṇic deities (avatāras, Devī-forms, Sarasvatī) with Vāstu/maṇḍala-style ritual geometry.
Correct placement and installation (sthāpanā) is held to make the worship ‘properly aligned’ (yathā-vidhi), supporting ritual efficacy—invoking protection (Devī-forms), auspiciousness, and clarity of speech/knowledge (Sarasvatī) through orderly directional sanctification.
