FAQs

It gives vastu-style directional assignments: which household functions/items (food preparation, bedding, weapons, wealth storage, fragrances/incense) are appropriate to specific quarters.

Beyond theology, it records practical applied knowledge—architectural and domestic planning via dik-based prescriptions—showing the text’s coverage of everyday governance of space, security, and ritual propriety.

Aligning activities and objects with their prescribed directions is presented as maintaining order (ṛta) in the built environment, supporting purity, auspiciousness, and protection from disorder or harmful influences.
