दिवसस्याष्टमे भागे मन्दीभूते दिवाकरे । आसुरं तद्भवेच्छ्राद्धं पितृणां नोपतिष्ठते
divasasyāṣṭame bhāge mandībhūte divākare | āsuraṃ tadbhavecchrāddhaṃ pitṛṇāṃ nopatiṣṭhate
Si el Śrāddha se realiza cuando el día ha alcanzado su octava parte y el sol se ha debilitado, ese Śrāddha se vuelve de naturaleza «āsura» y no llega a los Pitṛs.
