Transliteration

śuṃbhonāma mahādaityaḥ purā'sītpṛthivītale | tena sarvaṃ jagadvyāptaṃ jitvā devānraṇājire

Translation

Antaño, sobre la tierra existió un gran asura llamado Śumbha. Tras vencer a los dioses en el campo de batalla, extendió su dominio y sometió al mundo entero.
