किं वृणे यावदित्थं सा चिंतयेच्चारुमध्यमा । तावत्तयानिरैक्षिष्ट वराकी बर्करी पुरः
kiṃ vṛṇe yāvaditthaṃ sā ciṃtayeccārumadhyamā | tāvattayāniraikṣiṣṭa varākī barkarī puraḥ
Mientras la hermosa dama de esbelta cintura aún pensaba: «¿Qué don he de escoger?», en ese mismo instante la desdichada cabra Barkarī fue puesta ante su vista, de pie justo enfrente.
