Royal/Sovereign principle (Rāṣṭra; supported by Indra/Varuṇa/Bṛhaspati/Agni later in the hymn)
Este breve himno es un encantamiento‑oración de rāṣṭra (soberanía) que «instala» ritualmente a un gobernante (o el principio mismo del gobierno) en una estabilidad inconmovible (dhruva), para que el reino no se deslice ni se pierda. Alinea el orden político con el orden cósmico: cielo, tierra, montañas y el mundo en movimiento se invocan como modelos de firmeza; luego se llama a Soma e Indra (y, según la tradición, a deidades regias aliadas) para asegurar la lealtad voluntaria del pueblo y el tributo.

Mantra 1
आ त्वाहार्षमन्तरेधि ध्रुवस्तिष्ठाविचाचलिः । विशस्त्वा सर्वा वाञ्छन्तु मा त्वद्राष्ट्रमधि भ्रशत् ॥
Te he traído aquí: entra dentro. Mantente firme, inmóvil. Que todos los pueblos te anhelen; que el reino no se aparte de ti: que tu soberanía permanezca estable.

इहैवैधि माप च्योष्ठाः पर्वत इवाविचाचलिः । इन्द्र इवेह ध्रुवस्तिष्ठेह राष्ट्रमु धारय ॥
Aquí mismo establécete; no decaigas. Como una montaña, inconmovible. Como Indra, mantente aquí firme; y aquí sostiene el reino, la soberanía ordenada.

इममिन्द्रो अदीधरद्ध्रुवं ध्रुवेण हविषा । तस्मै सोमो अधि ब्रवत्तस्मा उ ब्रह्मणस्पतिः ॥
A éste Indra lo ha afianzado con una ofrenda firme (havis). A él Soma le habló su asentimiento; a él también Brahmaṇaspati, Señor de la Palabra, proclamó, confirmando la estabilidad del centro consagrado.

ध्रुवा द्यौर्ध्रुवा पृथिवी ध्रुवासः पर्वता इमे । ध्रुवं विश्वमिदं जगद्ध्रुवो राजा विशामयम् ॥
Firme está el Cielo, firme está la Tierra, firmes están estas montañas. Firme está todo este mundo en movimiento. Así sea este rey firme — estable para los pueblos.

ध्रुवं ते राजा वरुणो ध्रुवं देवो बृहस्पतिः । ध्रुवं त इन्द्रश्चाग्निश्च राष्ट्रं धारयतां ध्रुवम् ॥
Que el rey Varuṇa afiance tu soberanía; que el dios Bṛhaspati la afiance. Que Indra y Agni también sostengan tu reino en firmeza — inconmovible.
Mantra 6
ध्रुवं ध्रुवेण हविषाभि सोमं मृशामसि । अथो त इन्द्रः केवलीर्विशो बलिहृतस्करत् ॥
Con una ofrenda firme, en firmeza, tocamos a Soma. Entonces que Indra haga a los pueblos enteramente tuyos — trayendo tributo, llevando la ofrenda.

It is a Vedic hymn-prayer to establish and protect sovereignty (rāṣṭra). It asks that the ruler remain firm (dhruva), loved by the people, and not lose the realm.
Because stability is treated as the essence of legitimate rule. The hymn links the king’s firmness to the cosmos—heaven, earth, and mountains are ‘fixed,’ so the ruler should be fixed too.
