The Account of Hanumān
तस्मिन्मृतेऽथ शुक्रोऽपि प्राणांस्तत्याज योगतः । तस्यैवं हतिमाज्ञाय प्रह्लादाद्या दितीश्वराः ॥ ७१ ॥
tasminmṛte'tha śukro'pi prāṇāṃstatyāja yogataḥ | tasyaivaṃ hatimājñāya prahlādādyā ditīśvarāḥ || 71 ||
Cuando él hubo muerto, también Śukra, por el poder del yoga, abandonó su aliento vital. Al saber que había sido abatido de ese modo, los señores daitya, comenzando por Prahlāda (los hijos de Diti), comprendieron lo sucedido.
Narada (in dialogue context with the Sanatkumara tradition)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It highlights yogic mastery over prāṇa—Śukra relinquishes life intentionally (yogataḥ), showing that spiritual discipline can govern even the moment of death, while the Daitya leaders recognize the karmic and cosmic consequence of the slaying.
Bhakti is not stated directly here; the verse functions as narrative support showing the rise and fall of powerful beings. In the broader Purāṇic frame, such episodes contrast yogic power and asuric politics with the stability of surrender to Bhagavān, which is presented elsewhere as the safest refuge.
The verse reflects yogic-prāṇic doctrine (control of prāṇa and deliberate prāṇatyāga), which aligns with technical discussions often connected with Śikṣā/Prāṇāyāma traditions and disciplined breath-control practices referenced across Vedic learning.
