Gaṅgā-māhātmya: Bāhu’s Envy, Defeat, Forest Exile, and Aurva’s Dharmic Consolation

यद्यत्पुरातनं कर्म तत्तदेवेह युज्यते । कारणं दैवमेवात्र मन्ये सोपाधिका जनाः ॥ ६१ ॥

yadyatpurātanaṃ karma tattadeveha yujyate | kāraṇaṃ daivamevātra manye sopādhikā janāḥ || 61 ||

Cualquier acto antiguo que se haya realizado, ese mismo fruto se experimenta aquí. En esto, sostengo que sólo el destino (daiva) es la causa; mas la gente común, condicionada por limitaciones, piensa de otro modo.
