Bhakti-Śraddhā-Ācāra-Māhātmya and the Commencement of the Mārkaṇḍeya Narrative
Sages (listeners) addressing Suta
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
It declares that Hari-kīrtana is “nectar” for the soul: when devotion tastes that sweetness, inner dullness (ālasyam) naturally falls away and sincere eagerness to hear arises.
Bhakti is shown as joyful attraction rather than burden—glorifying Hari is compared to drinking nectar, implying that steady devotion grows through relish (rasa) in kīrtana and śravaṇa.
No specific Vedāṅga technique is taught in this verse; the practical takeaway is sādhana-priority: cultivate regular śravaṇa–kīrtana so the mind becomes naturally focused and free from inertia.
