Arjuna’s Self-Identification and the Ten Names
Uttara–Arjuna Saṃvāda
भीष्मद्रोणमुखास्तत्र कुरवो रथिसत्तमा: । वित्रस्तमनस: सर्वे धनंजयकृताद् भयात्
bhīṣma-droṇa-mukhās tatra kuravo rathisattamāḥ | vitrasta-manasaḥ sarve dhanañjaya-kṛtād bhayāt ||
Allí, los Kurus —los más eminentes entre los guerreros de carro, encabezados por Bhīṣma y Droṇa— estaban todos estremecidos de corazón, aterrados por el temor que Dhanañjaya (Arjuna) les había infundido.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Even renowned power and pedigree can falter when confronted by steadfast valor grounded in rightful purpose; fear arises not only from weapons but from the certainty of a capable opponent whose resolve is ethically firm.
The Kuru champions, with Bhīṣma and Droṇa at their head, become inwardly disturbed and fearful because Arjuna’s actions and presence have created a palpable threat, shaking their confidence on the battlefield stage of events.
