Pulastya’s Instruction
ब्रह्मादिभि: सुरै राजन्नषिभिश्न तपोधनै: । विज्ञप्तो वै महादेव ऋषेरथ नराधिप,राजन! नरेश्वर! उस समय ब्रह्मा आदि देवता तथा तपोधन महर्षिगण--सबने मंकणक मुनिके विषयमें महादेवजीसे निवेदन किया--
brahmādibhiḥ surai rājann ṛṣibhiś ca tapodhanaiḥ | vijñapto vai mahādeva ṛṣer atha narādhipa ||
Dijo Ghūlastya: «Oh rey, oh señor de los hombres, Mahādeva fue formalmente suplicado por Brahmā y los demás dioses, y por los rishis ascetas ricos en austeridad, acerca de aquel sabio».
घुलस्त्य उवाच
Even gods and great ascetics uphold dharma through humility and proper procedure: when a matter concerns a sage and the balance of conduct, they approach Mahādeva respectfully rather than acting rashly.
The speaker reports that Brahmā, other deities, and austerity-rich ṛṣis collectively submit a petition to Mahādeva regarding a particular sage, setting up Śiva’s response or intervention in the ensuing episode.
