Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya
All life is sustained through food, and food is ultimately dependent on the Sun; recognizing this cosmic dependence, one should seek refuge in Sūrya as a universal source and protector.
Dhaumya instructs the listener to approach the Sun-god for protection and aid, grounding the counsel in the idea that the Sun is the ultimate supporter of life through the provision of food.
