जलेन समनुप्राप्ते सर्वतः पृथिवीतले । तदा चैकार्णवे तस्मिन्नेकाकाशे प्रभुश्चवरन्,“समस्त भूमण्डल सब ओरसे जलमें डूबा हुआ था। उस समय एकार्णवसे उपलक्षित एकमात्र आकाशमें पृथ्वीका पता लगानेके लिये भगवान् इस प्रकार विचर रहे थे, जैसे वर्षाकालकी रातमें जुगनू सब ओर उड़ता फिरता है। वे पृथ्वीको कहीं स्थिररूपसे स्थापित करनेके लिये उसकी खोज कर रहे थे
jalena samanuprāpte sarvataḥ pṛthivītale | tadā caikārṇave tasminn ekākāśe prabhuś caran |
Bhīmasena dijo: «Cuando las aguas se extendieron por doquier sobre la faz de la tierra y todo se volvió un único océano sin límites, el Señor se movía en aquella solitaria extensión del cielo, buscando la tierra para poder asentarla de nuevo en un lugar firme».
