ततकश्नतुर्मुखो ब्रह्मा नाभिषाद्‌ विनि:सृत: । तत्रोपविष्ट: सहसा पद्मे लोकपितामह:,“उस नाभिकमलसे चतुर्मुख ब्रह्माजीका प्रादुर्भाव हुआ। उस कमलपर बैठे हुए लोकपितामह ब्रह्माजीने सहसा सम्पूर्ण जगत्‌को शून्य देखकर अपने मानसपुत्रके रूपमें अपने ही-जैसे प्रभावशाली मरीचि आदि नौ महर्षियोंको उत्पन्न किया

tataś caturmukho brahmā nābhiṣād viniḥsṛtaḥ | tatropaviṣṭaḥ sahasā padme lokapitāmahaḥ |

Entonces el Brahmā de cuatro rostros emergió del loto que brotó del ombligo. Sentado de inmediato sobre aquel loto, el Abuelo de los mundos contempló toda la extensión como vacía y, asumiendo el papel de progenitor nacido de la mente, engendró a los poderosos sabios, comenzando por Marīci (los nueve grandes Ṛṣis), para poner en marcha la creación.
