Markandeya’s Account of Yugas, Kali Signs, and Dissolution
Gautama uvāca: jānāmi nāhaṁ muhyāmi tvam evātra vimuhyase | stauṣi tvaṁ darśana-prepsū rājānaṁ jana-saṁsadi ||
Dijo Gautama: «Lo entiendo; yo no estoy engañado.
Gautama highlights ethical discernment in speech: praise offered from self-interest—especially in a public court—can be a sign of delusion and compromised integrity. One should examine motives and avoid flattering power for personal gain.
Gautama rebukes the other party, stating that he himself is not confused; rather, the other person has come to the royal assembly seeking a meeting with the king and is therefore praising him publicly out of personal motive.
