युगेष्वावर्तमानेषु धर्मो व्यावर्तते पुन: । धर्मे व्यावर्तमाने तु लोको व्यावर्तते पुन:,युगोंके परिवर्तन होनेपर आनेवाले युगोंके अनुसार धर्मका भी हास होता जाता है। इस प्रकार धर्मके क्षीण होनेसे लोक (की सुख-सुविधा)-का भी क्षय होने लगता है
yugeṣv āvartamāneṣu dharmo vyāvartate punaḥ | dharme vyāvartamāne tu loko vyāvartate punaḥ ||
Bhīma dijo: «A medida que las eras (yugas) giran y se suceden, el dharma también se desvía, declinando conforme a la era que llega. Y cuando el dharma así declina, el mundo mismo vuelve a declinar: su orden, su bienestar y las condiciones que sostienen la vida humana menguan con él.»
