Svargārohaṇa-parva Adhyāya 5 — Karmaphala-Nirdeśa and Phalāśruti (कर्मफलनिर्देशः फलश्रुतिश्च)

जनमेजयने पूछा--ब्रह्मन! महात्मा भीष्म और द्रोण

janamejaya uvāca | brahman! mahātmā bhīṣmaś ca droṇaś ca rājā dhṛtarāṣṭro virāṭas trupadaḥ śaṅkha uttaro dhṛṣṭaketur jayat­seno rājā satyajit duryodhanasya putrāḥ subalaputraḥ śakuniḥ karṇasya parākramī putrā rājā jayadrathaś ca ghaṭotkacādayaś ca tathāpare ye nṛpā iha nābhihitāḥ yeṣāṃ nāmabhir iha varṇanaṃ kṛtam | te sarve tejasvinaḥ śarīraṃ dhārayamāṇā vīrā rājānaḥ svargaloke kīyantaṃ kālam ekatra samavāsan? etan me brūhi || aho svid āśrutaṃ sthānaṃ teṣāṃ tatra dvijottama | ante vā karmaṇāṃ kāṃ te gatiṃ prāptā nararṣabhāḥ || dvijaśreṣṭha! kiṃ teṣāṃ tatra sanātana-sthāna-prāptiḥ āsīt, athavā karma-kṣaye te puruṣaśreṣṭhāḥ kāṃ gatiṃ prāptāḥ? ||

Janamejaya dijo: «¡Oh brahmán! Bhīṣma y Droṇa, el rey Dhṛtarāṣṭra, Virāṭa, Drupada, Śaṅkha, Uttara, Dhṛṣṭaketu, Jayatsena, el rey Satyajit, los hijos de Duryodhana, Śakuni hijo de Subala, los valerosos hijos de Karṇa, el rey Jayadratha, Ghaṭotkaca y otros reyes no nombrados aquí aunque descritos por su nombre: ¿cuánto tiempo moraron juntos en el cielo todos esos soberanos heroicos, revestidos de cuerpos radiantes?
