राजवृत्त-रक्षा-प्रणिधि-षाड्गुण्योपदेशः
Royal Conduct, Protection, Intelligence, and Policy Measures
धर्ममेव प्रपद्यन्ते न हिंसन्ति परस्परम् । अनुगृह्नन्ति चान्योन्यं यदा रक्षति भूमिप:
dharmam eva prapadyante na hiṃsanti parasparam | anugṛhṇanti cānyonyaṃ yadā rakṣati bhūmipaḥ ||
Cuando el rey protege de veras su reino, el pueblo se acoge naturalmente al dharma: no se dañan unos a otros y se brindan mutua benevolencia y apoyo. El verso presenta la moral pública como fruto directo de una realeza justa y vigilante.
वसुमना उवाच
Public virtue is sustained by righteous governance: when the king provides real protection and order, people adhere to dharma, refrain from mutual violence, and cultivate mutual goodwill.
In the Shanti Parva’s discourse on rajadharma, Vasumanā states a principle of statecraft: the ruler’s protective duty is the condition that enables citizens to live ethically and peacefully with one another.
