त्यज्यन्ते दुःखमर्था हि पालने न च ते सुखा: । दुःखेन चाधिगम्यन्ते नाशमेषां न चिन्तयेत्
tyajyante duḥkham arthā hi pālane na ca te sukhāḥ | duḥkhena cādhigamyante nāśam eṣāṃ na cintayet ||
Dijo Nārada: La riqueza sólo se abandona con dolor; incluso al guardarla no hay verdadera felicidad. También se adquiere con fatiga. Por ello, sabiendo que la riqueza es fuente de sufrimiento en toda condición, no debe uno afligirse cuando se pierde.
नारद उवाच
Wealth brings hardship in acquisition, anxiety in protection, and pain in loss; therefore one should cultivate detachment and not grieve when wealth perishes.
In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on right conduct and inner peace, Nārada delivers a reflective teaching that reframes wealth as inherently trouble-laden, urging freedom from worry over its loss.
