एवमुकक्त्वा विनिश्ित्य रौद्रकर्मा स लुब्धक: । महाप्रस्थानमाश्रित्य प्रययौ संशितव्रत:,ऐसा कहकर धर्माचरणका ही निश्चय करके वह भयानक कर्म करनेवाला व्याध कठोर व्रतका आश्रय ले महाप्रस्थानके पथपर चल दिया
evam uktvā viniścitya raudrakarmā sa lubdhakaḥ | mahāprasthānam āśritya prayayau saṃśitavrataḥ ||
Dicho esto, y resuelto con firmeza a practicar el dharma, aquel cazador—aunque conocido por obras feroces—abrazó un voto severo y se puso en marcha por el sendero de la Gran Partida, orientando su vida hacia la renuncia disciplinada y la determinación moral.
भीष्म उवाच
Even one associated with harsh or violent livelihood can choose dharma through firm resolve; ethical transformation is shown through adopting strict vows and turning toward renunciation and higher purpose.
After making a statement (in the preceding context), the hunter decisively commits to dharmic conduct, takes up a rigorous vow, and departs on the path called mahāprasthāna—symbolizing a decisive turning away from former life toward disciplined, renunciatory departure.
